Human Machine Interaction - Assistive Robotics

On November 22, 2017 Business Upper Austria - OÖ Wirtschaftsagentur GmbH organised an open seminar on "Human Machine Interaction - Assistive Robotics" in order to give participants insights into the application of human-machine interactions.

Assistive robotics combines man and machine, intelligence and computing power, thinking assets and strength meaningful. Such systems are important for a production of the future. Interested parties from the fields of innovation, production and R&D have the opportunity to get information about the challenges of assistance systems in the production.

Hands On Sessions

After the seminar, participants visited the Technology Lab of PROFACTOR as part of the European Robotics Week. Different demonstrators of research projects have been presented to give an overview of the future of robotic – the robotic that considers intelligent cooperation with humans.

– Siam: Augmented Reality for maintenance
– addmanu: robot-based inkjet printing on curved surfaces

The Open Seminar gave an insight into application areas of human-machine interactions. The participants were able to develop first specifications for specific applications and try the robot configuration by themselves.

Customer orientation in digital business models and processes

The 2nd NUCLEI Workshop, organized by Cluster Mechatronik & Automation at New Elements GmbH in Nuremberg, Bavaria, gave occasion to discuss different methods and approaches in digital business models. Digitalization is on the march and is about to form our societies drastically in the years to come. Especially users of digitalized solutions in manufacturing and trade are increasingly affected by this dynamic. Many fear to miss out on this trend and lose their economic basis. While in Germany the focus is set primarily on the technology itself, US companies for example tend to combine the use of new technologies with new potential business models that can be developed in consecuence. Therefore, the topics of Customer Relation Management, Product Design, Innovation and Service Offerings become connected and create new forms of implementation and marketing strategies especially for the middle-sized sector.

Process Monitoring - from Data Assessment to Visualisation

Cluster Mechatronik & Automation has welcomed 30 participants at Augsburg Technology Center for its first Open Seminar with focus on the analysis of processes and how to make them visible, e.g. through the use of VirtualReality.
Lecturers from Germany, Italy, Austria as well as the Czech Republic gave thrilling insights into the current challenges and possibilities of modern technology in manufacturing processes.
The participants from manufacturing companies and research institutions made good use of the international knowledge transfer and engaged in fruitful conversations discussing new innovation service models on a transnational scale.

From Process Data Acquisition to Cyber Security

Digitization in the manufacturing industry not only brings challenges but also opportunities. Many companies are busy making existing systems fit for Industry 4.0.

The Mechatronics Cluster visited B&R Industrie 4.0 factory, where attendees of the event got to know a solution for transforming existing facilities into smart factories.

During the factory tour through the Industry 4.0 factory of B & R, the participants of the event immersed themselves in the entrepreneurial practice and learned about the B & R production processes and systems. "At our events, looking at the practice is always very important. B2B discussions, networking and cooperation are an important basis for innovation" says Paireder.
